Discover the Wild Heart of KENYA (OCT, NOV, DEC)
Description
KENYA, officially the Republic of KENYA (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Kenya), is named after Mount Kenya that’s a country in
East Africa. A member of the African Union with a population of 7th most
populous in Africa. KENYA's capital and largest city is Nairobi. Kenya's
geography, climate and population vary widely, ranging from cold snow-capped
mountaintops (Batian, Nelion and Point Lenana on Mount KENYA) with vast
surrounding forests, wildlife and fertile agricultural regions to temperate
climates in western and rift valley counties and further on to dry less fertile
arid and semi-arid areas and absolute deserts (Chalbi Desert and Nyiri Desert).
Kenya has considerable land area devoted to
wildlife habitats, including the Masai Mara.
Nairobi while its oldest and second largest
city, which until 1907 was also KENYA's first capital city, The name is derived
from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to 'place of cool
waters', a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The
city proper had a population of 4,397,073 in the 2019 census. The city is
commonly referred to as The Green City in the Sun. That’s the major port city
of Mombasa which includes Mombasa Island in the Indian Ocean and the
surrounding mainland.
Masai Mara where blue wildebeest and other
bovids participate in a large-scale annual migration. More than one million
wildebeest and 200,000 zebras participate in the migration across the Mara
River.
The "Big Five" game animals of
Africa, that is the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephant, can be
found in Kenya and in the Masai Mara in particular. A significant population of
other wild animals, reptiles, and birds can be found in the national parks and
game reserves in the country. The annual animal migration occurs between June
and September, with millions of animals taking part, attracting valuable
foreign tourism. Two million wildebeest migrate a distance of 2,900 kilometres
(1,802 mi) from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania to the Masai Mara[125]
in KENYA, in a constant clockwise fashion, searching for food and water
supplies. This Serengeti Migration of the wildebeest is listed among the Seven
Natural Wonders of Africa.
Naivasha is The main industry is
agriculture, especially floriculture and also a popular tourist destination.
Tours also have included Lake Naivasha, to observe birdlife and hippopotamus
behaviour,[10] as well as other wild animals.
It is also home to Sunderland AFC Navaisha
- the Kenyan offshoot of the renowned English Championship football team,
Sunderland AFC. Their nickname is The Mighty Black Panthers and they rely
solely on sponsorship.
Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in
KENYA, outside the town of Naivasha in Nakuru County, which lies north west of
Nairobi. It is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local
Maasai name ɛnaɨpɔ́sha , meaning "that which
heaves," a common Maasai word for bodies of water larger enough to have
wave action when it is windy or stormy. Naivasha arose as the British attempt
to pronounce the Maasai name. Literally, Lake Naivasha means "Lake
Lake." The lake is home to a variety of types of wildlife including over
400 different species of bird and a sizable population of hippos.
Lake Bogoria (formerly Lake Hannington) is
a saline, alkaline lake that lies in a volcanic region in a half-graben basin
south of Lake Baringo, Kenya, a little north of the equator. Lake Bogoria, like
Lake Nakuru, Lake Elementeita, and Lake Magadi further south in the Rift
Valley, and Lake Logipi to the north, is home at times to one of the world's
largest populations of lesser flamingos. The lake is a Ramsar site and Lake
Bogoria National Reserve has been a protected National Reserve since November
29, 1973. Lake Bogoria also contains the highest concentration of true geysers
in Africa (at least 18 are known). The lake waters are alkaline (pH:10.5) and
saline (up to 100 g/L total dissolved salts). The lake has no surface outlet so
the water becomes saline mainly through evaporation, which is high in this
semi-arid region. The lake is highly productive with abundant cyanobacteria
(Arthrospira fusiformis) that feed the flamingoes, but few other organisms
inhabit the lake e.g. the monogonont rotifer species Brachionus sp.
Aberdare National Park wildlife present in
the protected area include lion, leopard, elephant, East African wild dog,
giant forest hog, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck, waterbuck, Cape buffalo, suni,
side-striped jackal, eland, duiker, olive baboon, black and white colobus
monkey, and sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include those of the African golden
cat and the bongo. Species such as the common eland, serval live in the higher
moorlands. The Aberdare National Park also hosts a large eastern black
rhinoceros population and over 250 bird species including the endangered
Aberdare cisticola, Jackson's spurfowl, sparrowhawk, African goshawk, African
fish eagle, sunbirds and plovers.
Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique
hotel in the Langata suburb of Nairobi KENYA. As one of Nairobi’s most iconic
buildings, Giraffe Manor has extraordinary appeal, it is set in 12 acres of
private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest and harks back to the 1930s when European
visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately
façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful
courtyards.

events worldwide, involving some 1,300,000 blue wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson's
gazelles, 97,000 topi, 18,000 common elands, and 200,000 Grant's zebras. Antelopes
